CEC has an immediate opening for a PROFESSIONAL LAND SURVEYOR to work in the Surveying Department, as the Assistant Department Head. The Surveying Department at CEC provides services to support our in-house roadway and bridge projects; as well as provides services for developers, governmental agencies and other engineering firms.
This is a growth-oriented role with the potential to advance to Department Head within 1 year.
The role involves a combination of fieldwork and in-office responsibilities.
This job will provide an opportunity to work on conventional, unique, and complex projects for IDOT, county highway departments, local public agencies/municipalities, contractors and more.

This position will work on conventional, unique, and complex projects for IDOT, county highway departments, local public agencies/municipalities and private clients, and will perform and provide control, boundary, topographic, utility, ALTA, Right-of-Way, hydrographic, and construction surveying services.
Responsibilities
Perform route surveying and layout required for engineering design and construction and complete all related computations necessary to complete said tasks.
Perform boundary surveying, courthouse records research, boundary analysis needed for right of way acquisition, ALTA surveys, private land development, & related work.
Prepare plats of survey, right-of-way plats/plans, parcel descriptions, and related surveying documents.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with the CEC Team and Survey staff, as assigned, on a regular basis.
Perform other duties as required or assigned by the Department Head.
Develop and maintain relationships with clients.
Assist in the preparation of proposals, cost estimates, schedules, and invoices.
Perform job duties with limited assistance.

The anticipated base salary range for this position – up to $130,000 /year. Compensation will be based upon relevant experience, education, skill level, and other compensable factors.
Requirements
Professional Land Surveyor license in Illinois
Must be able to lift/carry 30lbs in field conditions
Valid driver’s license with safe driving record
Ability to read and interpret construction plans
Strong organizational skills
Excellent computer and communication skills
Knowledge and experience of MicroStation/Open Roads Designer and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D is desired; or willingness to train/learn is also acceptable.
